Welcome to 7th Grade Civics! This course is designed to introduce students to the foundations of government, the rights and responsibilities of citizens, and the political processes that shape our world. Throughout the year, students will explore the structure of the United States government, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the importance of civic participation.


Course Objectives:

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

Understand the basic principles of the U.S. Constitution and how it establishes the framework of government.

Identify the three branches of government (Executive, Legislative, and Judicial) and explain their roles and responsibilities.

Explain the significance of the Bill of Rights and other key amendments to the Constitution.

Discuss the rights and responsibilities of citizens in a democratic society.

Analyze the electoral process and the importance of voting and civic participation.

Understand how state and local governments function in relation to the federal government.

Explore the role of the media, interest groups, and political parties in influencing public policy
