Welcome to 4th Grade ELA with Ms. DeMore. I am looking forward to working with you this year. I will do my best to ensure that you are being motivated and having a safe learning experience in my classroom. We are all a team in this learning process. Parents and families are essential members of the team too! Student, parent, and teacher communication is important as we progress through this year. I look forward to working with you and your family and hope that together we can make this an outstanding 2024-2025 school year! Courses Overview: ● We will be using the Florida B.E.S.T. standards to guide student teaching and learning. You may access these standards at https://www.cpalms.org/ or on the FLDOE website. HMH Into Reading Grade 4, our core curriculum, is aligned to the new benchmarks. ● Students will participate in group and individual projects: novel studies, book reports, essays, STEM connections, and cross-curricular projects presentations throughout the year, as well as a cross-curricular End-of-Year project. ● F.A.S.T. testing continues to be computer based this year and will be administered at the beginning, middle, and end of the year. Reading, Writing and Math are the state tested subject areas for fourth grade. Students will also take the iReady Reading Diagnostic in August, December, and April to collect data for instruction. We will update you on testing dates throughout the year.
